Eligibility
To receive help from emPower and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) with heat and energy bills, you must have:
- Electric and/or natural gas bill(s) past due or a shutoff notice.
- Propane or fuel oil level less than 25 percent when delivered.
- Less than 14 days of wood and/or pellets.
You get qualified based on income and assets. You must also complete and be approved for MDHHS‘ State Emergency Relief assistance through MI Bridges before more fully engaging with emPower.
